Search Metrics, Data Mining Analyst

eBay Search Science and Traffic is building world-class research and engineering teams in Shanghai, focusing on analyzing vast amount of user behavior data. The team’s work will directly impact eBay revenue by improving both search quality and internet marketing performance.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking data mining analysts to perform data extraction and cleansing, statistical reporting and data modeling work. This is an exciting position, which provides the candidate an opportunity to solve web scale and high impact business, using big data processing techniques and statistical analysis methodologies.

? Work with engineering, analytics and business partners to support search and marketing optimization.

? Research, design, develop and optimize metrics for performance evaluation and modeling.

? Study the interaction among a group of metrics by conducting correlation, regression and other modeling effort.

? Perform on-demand metrics calculation and analysis work.

Job Requirements

? Bachelor or MS degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent is required for this position.

? Industrial experience in data mining or statistical analysis is preferred, with basic understanding of descriptive statistics, regression, classification and clustering, etc. Familiar with Excel, SQL, R or SAS.

? Hands-on experience with big data processing, e.g. Hadoop, is preferred. Familiar with Java, C/C++, Python or other programming languages.

? Good communications skills, both verbal and written in English and Chinese

? Attention to detail and data accuracy.

? Quick learner, self-motivated and passionate.

Payment Development Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the payments area for eBay’s China Managed Market Place (MMP) product development team.

Managed Market Place works on the next generation trading platform where eBay has the ability to better help resolve issues occurred between buyers and sellers, creating better user experience. The current direction is to focus on rebuilding eBay’s Payment Platform, to ensure all online transaction payments are handled successfully, securely and globally. At the same time, the team is supporting eBay’s new Global Shipping Program, to enable fast and secure global shipping of customer products. Meanwhile, the team also works on customer support tools on global CS platform and Global Billing operations support.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Be responsible for building eBay Payments system.

Active contributor on development of complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.

Design layered application, including user interface, business functionality, and database access.

Work with other developers, QEs to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs.

Estimate engineering efforts, plan implementations, and rollout system changes.

Provide on-call responsibilities for product support.

Participate in continuous improvement of Payment product to achieve better quality.

Participate in requirement/design meetings with other PD/QE from US.

Work on system performance tuning.

Job Requirements

BS/BA in CS or related field. MS/PhD preferred.

Certain experience in software development area with at least 1+ years’ experience in Java programming.

Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.

Excellent problem solving skills

2 years experiences in software development;

Proficient in Java

Experience in AJAX, Hibernate 3.X, Spring 2.X/3.X

Good problem solving skill and able to follow-through the problem

Proficiency configuring and using any or all of the following highly desirable: JDBC, Hibernate, Struts, Spring, AJAX, SOAP, Log4j, Ant, CVS, Tomcat, JBoss

Good thinking and understanding on POJO, OOD, AOP, different design pattern CSS, JavaScript and HTML required

Experience in JQuery

Experience with database and SQL(Oracle and MySQL)

Experience using Git and Eclipse; Experience in Linux OS

Good knowledge in software design process and tools, such as UML

Good communication & presentation skill

Excellent reading and writing English
